Last year, in an effort to limit the spread of COVID-19 school districts were forced to close and for many households, distance learning became the new normal. Parents found themselves working from home under tremendously stressful conditions while trying to juggle their new duties as de facto teachers.

Almost overnight families were thrown into chaotic
circumstances as the pandemic exacerbated issues of poverty, childhood hunger, and mental health and prevented disadvantaged children from achieving their full potential in the education system.

The majority of the areas Guardians of Love serves unfortunately have the least amount of access to fun, safe and unforgettable
holiday activities. Guardians of Love, Los Angeles Mission and Christ-Centered Ministries were excited to partner for our first annual Back-to-School Drive-Thru. This event provided an opportunity to not only reach the demographic we currently serve, but also
community families that have an increased susceptibility to homelessness, incarceration and/or child welfare involvement.
